WELCOME TO NEWNHAM WALK SURGERY

Newnham Walk Surgery is a long established Cambridge general practice providing a full range of medical services to patients west of Cambridge city centre.

The Surgery will be closed for May Day Bank Holiday on Monday 7th May 2012.

For urgent medical care call 01223 366811, calls will be diverted to Urgent Care Cambridgeshire.

Summary Care Record – Have you made your choice?

Summary Care Record (SCR) is an electronic record of important information about a patients health.  It will initially have information about current medications, allergies and any bad reactions to medicines.  Additional information may be added over time if a patient gives their consent.
Newnham Walk Surgery is planning to upload Summary Care Records from 16th April 2012.
For further information, please ask reception. You can also phone the Summary Care Record Information Line on 0300 123 3020 or visit the website at www.nhscarerecords.nhs.uk.  Alternatively contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the PCT on 0800 279 2535.

    ON LINE SERVICES

 We have recently upgraded our on-line service to enable patient to book doctor's appointments and order repeat prescriptions over the internet.  When using these services please observe the following few rules:

To apply for an on-line account, please contact the surgery

Repeat Prescription Requests (On-Line): 

1.  This facility only allows you to order 'routine' repeat medication. 
2. If you wish to alter your medication or ask for different doses or quantities you must contact the surgery in the usual way.
3. Please allow 2 working days before collection (48 hours)
 
Booking Appointments (On-Line)
To book an appointment with a Doctor (On-Line)
 
1. At present only 'routine' GP appointments are available on-line. 
2. Please do not use Doctor appointments for travel vaccinations or other nurse-led issues (see below), or for completing documents or forms of any kind.
3. The usual one patient per one appointment rule applies.
 
Booking nurse appointments on line
On-Line nursing appointments are currently bookable for:
  • Travel advise & vaccinations
  • Blood tests
  • Cervical smears
  • Ear wax removal
All other nurse appointments are bookable at the surgery or on the telephone for: 
Contraception, wound care, ear wax removal, cervical smear tests, asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, weight management, smoking cessation, blood tests, hearing tests, routine injections.
 
If in doubt about your on-line appointment booking, please telephone reception. Please note, doctors and nurses have different skills and training, and if you book into an incorrect clinic, you will have to rebook.

  Extended Hours

Are now available at Newnham Walk Surgery on a selection of early mornings from 07:00 or on a Monday evening, and appointments are available in advance either to book on-line or in the usual way.

Junior doctors & medical students

Newnham Walk Surgery is committed to training future GPs and doctors.  GP registrars are fully qualified doctors gaining a year's experience in general practice. Medical students may also work with our doctors from time to time. We fully appreciate your assistance, but if you would rather not have a medical student present during your consultation, you should feel free to decline.
