Covid 19 Vaccine Programme
Covid -19 Vaccination Programme.
COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Update 21st May 2021.
Bringing forward second dose appointments for priority groups.
You may have seen the news about different variants of coronavirus circulating in some parts of the country/in our area.
It is important that we quickly respond to this. That is why, in line with government and JCVI (Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation) guidance, we are bringing forward when people that are at greater risk of getting seriously ill from coronavirus, get their second dose of the vaccine, if they haven’t already had it. If you are in a higher risk group, it will ensure you can get maximum protection from the virus earlier.
If you are in a higher risk group, we will contact you with information on how you can book an earlier appointment.
Update 14th May 2021.
We have now vaccinated thousands of our local patients and are so grateful to all of our staff and the local volunteers whose hard work, support and dedication has enabled us to help deliver the vaccine to our patients who are most at risk of Covid-19.
The vaccine programme is now in Phase 2 which will focus on cohorts 10 -12 (ages 18 – 49). We will be continuing to offer vaccination services for Phase 2 cohorts and these patients will be contacted when it is your turn to be vaccinated by either:
- A text, call or letter from your GP Practice
- A letter or text from the National Booking Service inviting you to book an appointment at a local vaccination centre online via nhs.uk/covidvaccination or by calling 119
For people under 40 without other health conditions, it's currently advised that it's preferable to have another COVID-19 vaccine instead of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. You can find out further information in the latest patient information leaflet.
We will also continue to provide second doses to those patients in the priority groups who have already received their first vaccine. Patients awaiting their second doses are asked not to contact the practice – we will contact you when it is the right time to book your appointment.
Whether you have had the vaccine or not, please continue to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives.
Our normal primary care service is being impaired by telephone calls and messages regarding vaccines and we please ask that you use our service thoughtfully and consider whether you can find the answer to your questions elsewhere.
