After 3 years of Covid restrictions we are pleased to announce that our Online Appointment System is now fully operational again.
Outpatient and Specialist Referrals
The Covid19 pandemic has added to the strain on all NHS services. As a result of this, waiting list times for outpatient and specialist appointments and procedures have increased for everybody.
We appreciate that this can cause worry and uncertainty about when you will eventually receive an appointment. The practice has no direct access to the hospital appointment lists.
If you have been referred by your GP/are waiting for :
· An outpatient appointment
· An appointment for hospital tests (eg scans)
· A date for an operation or other treatment
· A follow-up from your hospital team
and you have a query about what is happening, please use the new NHS My Planned Care platform that is available online and will provide direct access to the latest average wait time's for appointments and operations for local hospitals, as well as helpful advice and support.
Only call the practice if your condition has genuinely deteriorated, when you will be reviewed by one of the clinical team and appropriate action can be taken in regard to your care.

All of our COVID-19 secure measures remain in place.
Patients are asked to continue to wear a face covering, unless they are exempt, and to follow social distancing when visiting our GP Practice.
This follows the national Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Guidance for all healthcare settings and will help to ensure the safety of our staff and patients at all times.

Staff at our practice are working extremely hard and doing their best to make sure patients are safe.
Over the last 18 months, the practice has been supporting the pandemic response and ensuring our patients are able to get their COVID-19 vaccinations, at the same time as continuing to deliver primary care services.
This has made our GP practice very busy and our staff have been working incredibly hard to keep services open for patients.
We’re aware patients may have experienced longer wait times on the phone or for their appointment, but we have been working hard to ensure you receive the right treatment from the right person at the right time.
We have increased the number of telephone and online appointments available, so our patients don’t always have to come to the practice. We also employ a range of highly trained staff, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and healthcare assistants who are able to deal with a range of medical conditions, which will help patients get treated sooner.
Whether your appointment is over the telephone, via an online video consultation, or face-to-face, patients will always receive the same high quality standard of care from our practice team.

Coronavirus - Important Information
WE REMAIN OPEN & FUNCTIONING at Newnham Walk Surgery.
A wide range of normal services with our GPs and nurses continue to operate.
Please phone us in the first instance if you would like care, and we will arrange for a GP or Nurse to call you.
If you have worrying symptoms, please do not put off dealing with these - give us a call.
If we need to see you face to face, please bring and wear your own face mask if at all possible. We will ensure that you are seen by staff wearing full protective clothing.

Newnham Walk Surgery is a long established Cambridge general practice providing a full range of medical services to patients west of Cambridge city centre. The practice is made up of 2 sites, Newnham Walk Surgery and Cambridge City Centre Medical Practice, located on the first floor of Boots the Chemist, Petty Cury.
We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.
Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.

This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.
For your convenience, all of our registered patients are entitled to use either the main surgery in Newnham Walk,or our Branch surgery located at Petty Cury, 65-67 Sidney Street. At Newnham Walk there is a car park for patients visiting the surgery. However patients should be aware that during busy periods the car park does get full. During these occasions there is pay and display parking available in Newnham Walk, Wordsworth Grove, Ridley Hall Road and Sidgwick Avenue.
